After reading and reviewing information on Sarah Good I was able to create a portrait of her that represents her as she is described in history. In many excerpts of Sarah Good she is described as being “filthy” or even as an “old hag” so, I portrayed Good with flies flying around her, scruff marks, as well as a wrinkled forehead. Because Good and her family were said to be poor and beggars, she is wearing a simple dress. I have also included a symbol of hands begging for bread to represent this. Another description of Good said that she lived detached from society. In my portrait, this is represented by her house being far away from the town. Good is known largely because she was one of the first three women who were convicted of witchcraft
