Read 200 3:30pm The book, The Alchemist, is written by Paulo Coelho. In this book, Santiago is one of the main characters that has a dream to travel pass through the Pyramid and find his treasure. During his journey, he is not only looking for the treasure, but also learning about his personal legend. He becomes wiser, and he is capable of dealing with his obstacles. I think that the most important to me that Santiago learned in his journey is he never gives up. The first reason I think on that way because people will find out their potential on achieving their goals, mostly, they can learn skills. He asks the crystal merchant to allow him to sell crystals at the bottom of the hills, and he suggests to sell tea in the crystal glasses. “He [is] proud of himself.(56)” I felt proud of myself when I climbed to the top of the mountain. Climbing a mountain is always a challenging outdoor activities. It reminds me that my experience that the first time I climbed a 900 feet height mountain. Some of the roads were stairs and some were plat mud roads. The mountain was covered by grass, flower, and short trees, so there was no place to hide the heat of the sun. There was afternoon when we climbed to 400 feet. I was slowing down. The heat burned my skin, and I felt tired. I thought my backpack became heavier and heavier, even though my backpack had only two bottles of water and some cookies. I thought I almost passed out, and I could not move forward. I turned my head back, and I was satisfied with an amazing view of the middle of the mountain. “Can I stop here? I was tired.” I asked. My aunt smiled and answered, “Have you ever stood at the top of the mountain? That is the best moment in my life when I arrive there. In the book, the Alchemist tells the chief that Santiago can transform himself into the wind when they are catched by the military troop. The chief allows Santiago to practice for three days, or he will die. Santiago feels upset and fear because he does not know how to transform himself into the wind, but he never gives up. He keeps observing the desert, and finally, he finds out that he speaks the same language with the desert. The desert lends its sand to Santiago. The wind feels thoughtful, and it agrees to carry Santiago to heaven. Santiago is succeed because he does not give up to learn to transform himself into wind. “Never give up” works as my belief, and it encourages me to keep going in my hard time. I spent a long time on learning to ride a bike when I was young. I always lost my balance while I left my foot from the floor. I hit a big tree once because I could not control the balance. My father gave me a lot of his patience, he taught me that hold the bicycle straight. He wanted me to keep pedaling while my feet left the floor. I did not give up even though I fell down many times, because I really wanted to learn riding
