The Alchemist taught him how to communicate with the soul of the world in order to save his life and continue his Personal legend. The camp was afraid of Santiago, so they gave him a camel and sent him on his way. Without the help of the Alchemist Santiago would never be able to continue his journey to the soul of the…
The merchant paid Santiago well on his commissions; in return, Santiago improved the merchant’s sales. The merchant tells the boy: “I’m doing much better, and soon you’ll be able to return to your sheep” (Coelho 52). Santiago works with the crystal merchant for almost a year, earning enough money to double the amount of sheep he had if he were to return home. Santiago uses the money he has earned to join a caravan headed to Egypt. Through Santiago’s assiduous work, and the crystal merchant’s kindness, Santiago is able to take the next step on his path to completing his Personal…

Rehearsing Your Personal Case Mentor ship As one of the options I brainstormed to address the delinquent behavior of my juvenile, I've come to believe that what most young people in the juvenile justice system needs is not services or professional assistance. Some do. Some are in the justice system because they cant stop their behavior because they have mental health problems, substance abuse problems and they need professional help to get past those barriers. But many are often suffering from severe cases of adolescence, and they need to be helped with that disorder. Learning responsibility, learning how to associate with others, learning how to make decisions, learning that there are risks in life and that there is no need…
Do you know what city contains the longest beach in Ohio? It is Mentor, Ohio, containing Headlands Beach that is approximately one mile long. I chose this city because I have lived in the area my entire life and enjoy the many fascinating attractions the city offers to the community. Not only do I appreciate the city but my entire family also lives in Mentor, and I would like to live near them. Although Mentor is a fantastic city, I wonder if problems with the population of Mentor will affect traffic or pollution and cause families to become distant because they don’t want to travel through a populated city?…
To never stop dreaming is also an important life lesson for Santiago because without dreaming of the kids playing with his sheep, Santiago is never going to go to the Gypsey and figure out what the dream means. Santiago explains his dream to the gypsey as, “ [He] dreamed that [he] was in a field with [his] sheep, when a child appeared and began to play with the animals”(p. 40). This indicates that Santiago dreams about his future of going on the journey to the Pyramids. This means that Santiago’s journey starts with him dreaming. This also demonstrates the idea that Santiago has his whole life figured out by just one dream, and that if people do not stop dreaming, life will give people rewards in life.…
This was said by Santiago after his father was trying to explain how pointless traveling was. This illustrates Santiago's relationship with his…
My solo 'Santiago' is a study I began in Improvisation and Composition class this fall. The point of the solo originally was to learn how to compose a piece of choreography; after deconstructing, reconstructing, adding time and level changes along with studies on the Rudolf Laban efforts and Qualities of Movement it became what it is now. I intend to continue altering and expanding this piece until I feel its story is told. Right now my solo tells the story of someone reaching for something and trying to say something but losing the courage as soon as the opportunity comes. The title comes from both the music and a pilgrimage to Santioga de Compostela, Spain I took this summer.…
Santiago struggles with this decision because he maintains an emotional connection with his sheep, and is reluctant to leave them. He contemplates returning to his sheep later in the novel, saying “I know why I want to get back to my flock, he though. I understand sheep; they’re no longer a problem, and they can be good friends” (65). Santiago is passionate about tending to his flock because he is extremely knowledgeable about how to go about it, so it is close to his heart. He knows that remaining as a shepherd is easier for him, but he will not be happy.…
The Alchemist Flashback In Santiago’s, the main character, flashback, he goes to town to sell his sheep’s wool to a merchant, and while he waits for the busy merchant to finish up in his shop, he meets the merchant’s daughter. She questions his ability to read since he is a shepherd, and the conversation goes on for hours after this. The girl makes Santiago want to settle down and live in one place. This flashback begins while Santiago roams the peaceful countryside. He and his sheep begin to come close to this place they visited previously, which causes Santiago to think about this girl more and more.…
He has a balance between humility and pride, thus not allowing it to take over. Before the old man sailed out to the gulf, Manolin announced, “And the best fisherman is you”, Santiago humbly disagrees, “No. I know others better” (Hemingway, 23). He acts humble by decreasing his skills and abilities by comparing himself to that of other individuals. Here, Santiago’s balance between two of his qualities is visible.…
(Krakauer 45). Santiago however, always finds comfort among his sheep as a shepherd and when even parting ways he accepts knowing that his sheep have probably forgotten all about him, but has thought of them as companions. He describes that, “They were content with just food and water, and, in exchange, they generously gave of their wool, their company” (Coelho 9). Upon leaving the town he holds dear, this new environment makes him feel like it alienates him as if he is different in a sense of their practice of religion and overall culture. The few hours that he resides in such a place, he observes how these people walk hand in hand, prayers praying, and men and women worshipping, together.…

Chancellor’s mentorship challenge The American Council on Education recognized UH Chancellor Renu Khator for her outstanding mentorship of future higher education leaders. The Chancellor has mentored five ACE Fellows, who are each preparing for senior-level positions in higher education administration. “Mentoring is powerful.
