Santiago Dramatic Monologue Analysis

Entry #3 - I’m officially in love with Santiago. Last night at dinner I ate “Truchas Arcoiris”, or as we know it, Rainbow Trout. I’ve never had such flavorful trout in my life, it was incredible. Then, after dinner, I went to the Municipal Theatre and watched Verdi’s Otello, a beautiful opera based off of Shakespeare’s play. I finally finished the night off with a trip to the Santiago Museum of Contemporary Art where I saw mesmerizing paintings and sculptures made by native Chilean artists. I have never been in a place that appreciates art so much it’s quite strange. Anyways, now I’m off to eat lunch I have a full day of fun activities planned and I can’t wait to do all of them. Yours truly, Kassidy

Growing up in a border town of Mexico and The United States, Tere is engulfed in both American and Mexican culture but only thinks she relates to her Mexican roots. Tere doesn't quite understand her identity because she is engulfed by the romance and drama of Mexican culture that inhibit her from realizing that she is neither Mexican or American.…

SANTIAGO, Chile — From my home here, I look up at the immense mountain range of the Andes and my spirits are lifted. Since my childhood, these mountains have bestowed on me a sense of security and permanence sadly absent from my life, but in these troubling times, they afford me something else: an intimation of hope. Because, exactly 200 years ago, on Feb. 12, 1817, a group of men crossed these very Andes, impenetrable, colossal, majestic, in an extraordinary journey that was to liberate Chile from colonial rule. Their exploits became a turning point in the emancipation of all Spanish-speaking America.…

Today I am going to talk, in very abridged form, a little bit about my experience of getting to know the amazing person who goes by the name of Cecilia Bernard, and what I have learned about her over the past three years of knowing her, which was both a fortunate and unfortunate event. Fortunate, obviously, because I got to meet her and see everything great about her. Unfortunate, though, as it took me as long as it did to meet her. What I first learned about her is that she was very open and inviting. I found this out on the way to New Orleans.…

For any son, the death of one’s father will definitely have a huge impact on their life however it appears that for Hamlet rather than simple grief or remorse, Hamlet instead turns to madness. Hamlet’s psychological development can be analyzed during his soliloquy of Act 2, Scene ii where he decides to plot against Claudius to revenge his father as well as Act 3 Scene IV. After King Hamlet’s death and putting Hamlet in a situation of where he must pretend to be insane, Hamlet’s true sanity can be questioned through his decision making and through the analysis of his pleasure seeking id, his realistic ego, and his over-thinking superego from a psychoanalytical reading of the text. By taking a look through the psychoanalytical lens, it is apparent through Hamlet’s long soliloquy that the death of his father is very much taking a toll on his mind. Upon analyzing the mental state of the struggling prince, one can…
