Sante: A Short Story

Sante and christian have no choice but to run away. The duke however gets informed by one of his bodyguards about this. Beyond mad this he goes to a bar and ask where the toughest people are. They all stand up, sitting in the back of the bar, looking rough and tough, and one has an eyepatch. He then gives the leader (the guy with the eyepatch), a ton of money to capture sante and kill christian. They take the money and go after them.

Sante and Christian go out on a boat, but Sante stops Christian. She tells him the tragic news that she is dying, and apologises that she didn’t tell him before, but believed it would break her heart. Christian tries to hold back tears, but can’t. He kisses Sante’s hand and promises her that her last moments

“I’ve tried to be nice, I’ve tried to be calm, but now you’ve done it!” he says. “I don’t care if i look meanest guy in town!” “well technically you are” Christian says. “shut it! Now hand her over.” “ok.” christian tosses him an anchor and he then falls into the water. After that they set the boat to sail, and the Duke rising from the water shouts at his gang to get them. They all jump in the water and try to swim after them, Duke facepalms and says “get in a boat and then get them!”

Chrstian and the others row away as fast as they can, getting away from the Duke and the others. Christian ask where they are heading to, and Sante says that they know of a place called America that they could head to to run away. She says that she’s heard from people that it is home to opportunity and the land of the free. Harold watches as they sail away, and waves at them with tears forming.

“Please be safe…” she says. Christian and Sante look up at the moon holding each other. Christian says he understands why Sante didn’t tell her, and hopes that they can find a cure to the diseases she has. Sante responds with “I don’t know if there is a cure.” Christian says never say never, but sante believes that this is one time they might have
