Sandy Hook Shooting Conspiracies
The shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary was a tragic event, with twenty six dead and only questions remaining, it’s hard not to sympathize with the families of those lost. There is a movement, however, that claims the shooting was false (Spaeth). The shooting is believed to have been staged in order to pave the way for stricter gun control (Salazar). Conspiracy theorists, calling themselves Truthers, have presented evidence to support their claims numerous times in attempts to convince the general population.
Truthers point out the FBI Crime Report in particular where the report shows the number of murders in Newtown, Connecticut was zero for 2012 (Salazar). They support this further by showing the same report …show more content…
Early in the case it was reported that there was a possibility of multiple shooters (Stuart). One of the persons of interest is Christopher Rodia, whose name can be heard on the police radio communication when they were looking up the plates of a suspicious car parked in the lot that led to no arrests (Mikkelso). Another individual, Chris Manfredonia was arrested and later let go with no public explanation (Mikkelson). Truthers argue this is evidence of a cover up. They believe the government suppressed the press to stop talking about the suspects in order to keep any information about the actual events …show more content…
It was well documented that another gun was found in the locked trunk of the vehicle he used to get to the school. Truthers argue this inconsistency is clear evidence of someone misunderstanding their script (Mikkelso).
We trust the Social Security Administration to not make major mistakes, if they make even a simple mistake it could do a lot of damage. Truthers continue their argument by citing the SSA’s record of Adam Lanza, the alleged shooter. The SSA had, on file, Adam’s death on December thirteenth, 2012, when the shooting took place on the fourteenth. The argument is they needed someone to blame the shooting on, and his death was just a good opportunity. See figure 3, a screenshot from the SSA’s website (Stuart).
This is just a sample of the evidence brought to the table from the theorist’s argument. They demand the government to explain what really happened and that justice be served. They have not had an open playing field, however, they received opposition at every move they made with explanations and debates from the government, police, and the residents of
