With one foot in Seoul and the other in Kalamazoo, I have been juggling two homes for seven years. Until I was twelve, home was where I was born and raised—the comfortable Seoul neighborhood in a cozy apartment with Mom and Dad. Since my arrival in Michigan, my aunt and uncle have become substitute parents, and my two little cousins are now adopted siblings. My autobiography could easily turn into the most banal, quintessential story of the “small town, big dreams” variety— so I try to steer clear of that, but I will make no such promises. Though, small town summarizes Crossville pretty well, or it did at some point. It has since sprung up to quite a busy place, at least for Tennessee, but the Crossville I grew up in was like the typical small town from some sort of movie from the eighties. It was all gossip about who was marrying who and who had stopped going to church and who had started going to church and who had gotten who pregnant— not to mention that everyone knew everyone. My parents, Abby and Patrick, had been married for several years and had already had my sister, Morgan, when I came along.…

Personally, I thought the interview with Judge Cerski was pretty different from the other interviews. While the others talked about the balance between their work and their social life, Judge Cerski said his work is his life. I have great respect for him, and it is inspiring to hear how far he has come in his career. Although, I do not think that is the leadership approach that I want to follow. He had some great advice, but I think that I would not be happy or completely successful if I made my work my number one priority all of the time.…
