Sandra's Violence In How Dare The Sun Rise

The events in How Dare the Sun Rise by Sandra uwiringiyimana were not positive, necessary or nice, in fact, the horrible acts of violence that killed many, including Sandra's family members. However, these events made it possible for Sandra's family to be relocated To America, and they allowed her to start fresh and live a happy life. The benefit that they were relocated, allowed them to live in a house that had all the basic needs, like running water and heating. They made new friends, went to a proper school, and most importantly, Sandra's parents could get jobs that had a salary that could support a family.
First of all, the advantage that Heritage, Sandra's brother escaped from captivity and torture by the military, enabled the family to leave for the refugee camp. "In 2002, my father had some heart-stopping news from a friend: Heritage had been spotted in the Congolese city of Bukavu"(52). Sandra's family, her dad especially, would never have left without heritage, his oldest son. This shows that this event, Heritage turning up, in the long run, affected whether Sandra and her family would stay or leave to go to the camp.

The driver left the car, with the keys and did not return, hours later a local bravely pushed through the hundreds of enraged, armed people to the car. He asked why they were still there, he responded: " what the driver looked like?"(64) ... Then he returned, ten minutes later, forcing his way mob, he had the keys. If it wasn't for this kind-hearted man, they would not have lived through the journey, this man saved their lives.
