For Cleofilias, telenovelas were an integral part of her life because, living her life as a telenovela allowed her to experience the fantasy of living. She had the power to deal with the hardships her husband gave her, like beating her. She justifies that Juan is a good man and that she loves him as her reason as to way she is not able to leave him. “You or no one. Because to suffer for love is good. The pain all sweet somehow. In the end” (Cisneros, 1589). This is a powerful quote in the story because it shows that Cleofilias was willing to do anything for her marriage event to stick around suffering pain from Juan. The agency that Cleofilias faces at this point in the story is that she has the power to decide that she will live her life like a telenovela. She is willing to experience everything and to change everything in her life just to have love in the end. She was willing to with stand all in order to have the love from her husband. For is she went back she felt as if she would be judged by the people in the town in Mexico. “The town of gossips. The town of dust and despair. Which she has traded for this town of gossips” (Cisneros, 1592) Her fear is that she will return to the town and the towns folk will spread gossip in regards to her and how she has escaped her husband. The idea of ridicule and shame were n part of her telenovela life style. She wanted to live her life like a telenovela, but at this point it had become a sad and sober novella. At this point in her life in the story “Women Hollering Creek” the agency she has is to grab her things get in the car with Felice and get on the Greyhound bus. She has the power to escape from the constriction and violence of her husband. She has found a way to live her life after suffering, she has found her happy ending to her
