Sandra Cisneros is an honorable Latina American author of numerous poetry books, children’s books, and novels. Sandra was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 20, 1954, to a Mexican father and a Chicana mother. She is the only daughter from the seven children in the family. Sandra attended the Loyola University of Chicago and earned a bachelor’s degree in English, and she earned a master’s degree at University of Iowa Writers Workshop in the late 1970’s. After her experience from the Writers Workshop, Sandra wrote the novel, The House on Mango Street in 1984, in which composed of series of vignettes to tell a story of a young Latina girl reaching adulthood in Chicago (just like her).
