Sandra Cisneros Eleven Analysis

The story Eleven by Sandra Cisneros has a great theme, stand up for yourself. Mitchell Davis once said Be yourself & I promise people will enjoy it; & if they don’t forget them. In the beginning, Mrs. pierce was trying to figure out who’s red sweater it was. When Sylvia Saldivar said that it was rachel's Mrs.pierce said that she saw rachel wearing it, even though Rachel said it was not hers. This connects to the theme because when she tried to tell Mrs.Pierce that it was not hers she ended up saying “ That's not, I don’t, you’re not… Not mine.” This shows that Rachel did not stand up for herself.
Another time, she did not stand up for herself is when Mrs.Pierce tells Rachel to stop being ridiculous and put on the sweater instead of pushing

Task of Understanding One Another “Why aren’t you listening to me?” that is what I would ask my dad when I would not see him engaged in what I had to say. I would recommend the book Belzhar by Meg Wolitzer to my friends. This book tells about a girl and the hardships she faces to get through a challenging time. Along the way, she meets people who change and affect her life. Readers who read the book may find it touching, or motivating, especially for those with similar problems as the main character and other characters. This is Why I’ll Never be an Adult The story that I have connected with the most is This is Why I’ll Never be an Adult by Allie Brosh. I think Brosh’s message is to not take life so seriously, and that sometimes it is okay to just be yourself. Sometimes it is okay to forgive yourself for your shortcomings, and to celebrate the little things, especially as we age and gain more experience in life. The reason I choose this text was because I feel like many people can relate to how Brosh describes feeling though her story.…

The construction of gender became necessary when presented portrayals of the world had to differentiate between male or female characters, as one sex could play the other. These constructions were shaped by the time and place in which the work was presented. Over the summer, I read three amazing books. They are A Midsummer Night’s Dream written by William Shakespeare, Mythology written by Edith Hamilton, and Bless Me, Ultima by Rudolfo Anaya. These three books share many common ideas, including the theme of how personal identity is influenced by environment and experiences, and how identity and experiences inform choices a character makes along his or her personal journey especially when faces with challenges or hardship. In the book A Midsummer Night’s Dream, written by William Shakespeare, there are four lovers and Hermia is one of them.…

The classmate conversation with Urji was started by casually walking together to Coffman after class. It was somewhat vague and a little tense to begin with, but after a few minutes of getting to know each other, time seemed to fly as I began to know who the real Urji was. For almost an hour, we sat at a table in the Marketplace in Coffman; I really enjoyed the conversation because it brought good insight from someone who I did not know very well. One story that really resonated with me was Urji’s story about being the best runner in his high school. Urji was very passionate about running and would run after practice, finish his laps, and keep running with those who had not finished their laps.…
