Sandra Bland: Video Analysis

Now that we know the whole story, let’s look at both sides of the coin. Sandra Bland was driving to her new job in Texas on July 10th, 2015. She was pulled over by state trooper Brian Encinia because of an “erratic lane change” on the busy highways of Texas in the middle of the day. In the video, yes there is a video, Officer Brian walks over to her car and tells her what he is pulling her over for, and asks for her license and registration. Everything is going fine and Sandra is cooperating with Officer Brian with his requests, even answering his question about how long she’s been in Texas. Now, first we’re going to look at it from Sandra’s perspective. Anyway, Sandra was smoking a cigarette at the time she was pulled over. After he runs her credentials …show more content…

When she is done telling him why she is upset, he then asks her to put out her cigarette. She gets even more upset and is then told to get out the car. Earlier I said that we would look at this from Sandra’s eyes, now as things are getting more and more heated, let’s do so. Sandra is going in for an important job at a school that she graduated from in 2009. So since this is an important job to get and a lot hangs on one interview, I would be a little more than a bit nervous. I buy a pack of cigarettes from a store with my own money and make the decision on my own to smoke it. Now, I am being pulled over for doing what I learned to do when a police officer is behind me speeding up as if he is trying to catch someone ahead of me. So not only am I being pulled over by a state trooper, but I might miss the first day of interviews at my job because of it. Don’t lie, you’d probably be pretty upset too. But back to what’s going on, the officer has now opened the door and is raising his voice telling Sandra to get out of the

She also exhibited psychological repression – often claiming that she couldn’t remember things. Stalling Mechanisms…

The article refrains from accusing the police of violence towards Sandra Bland. Instead, the article focuses on the perspective of police investigators. The investigators are bewildered of the cause of Sandra Bland 's death and appear to be doing the best to discover the cause. The focus from police investigators reinforces positive characteristics about law enforcement, such as hard working in bringing justice to citizens. This illustrates law enforcements as blameless because these officials are represented as eager to solve the case.…

Angie Thomas’ intriguing novel, The Hate U Give associates with police brutality, more specifically a teenage girl who has witnessed the act more than once. The main goal of the protagonist, Starr Carter, is to get justice for Kahlil, a sixteen year old black boy who was murdered at the hands of a police officer. As an act of police brutality, many people believe that Officer Cruise made the immediate assumption that Khalil was holding a weapon, simply because of his skin color. To begin with, the case I decided to write about is the Eric Garner case which I feel strongly about. This incident took place in Staten Island, New York on July 17th 2014. It all started when the police officers approached Mr. Garner about selling untaxed cigarettes and tried making an arrest. Eric Garner then tried to explain to the law enforcement officers that he hasn’t done anything. As the officer tried to make an arrest with resistance from the victim, he then wrapped his arm around the 43 year old’s neck.…
