Sanderson Farms, Inc. is a fully integrated poultry processing company engaged in the production, processing, marketing and distribution of fresh and frozen chicken and other prepared food items (Sanderson Farms, 2016). The company was founded in 1947 and was incorporated in 1955. This great organization has grown to become the 3rd largest poultry producer in the United States. The company as a whole processes and produces more than 9 million chickens per week that gets shipped out for sale to the public. It sets itself apart from their competition within their poultry industry with its core values and beliefs that are driven home daily from upper management to the hourly employees who work diligently for the company. The group will consist of individuals anywhere from managers whom will oversee the production of the new product to the human resources department. Diversity on the cross functional team should be extremely helpful due to unique perspective each individual is going to bring to the table. A diversified team will be able to incorporate all ideas that will support the introduction of the new product. Robin Robinson, Director of Organizational Development and Corporate Communication for the company, will lead the diverse cross functional team of personnel. Individuals selected for the cross functional team will consist of individuals from the human resources department, sales department, accounting department, and department managers of the processing departments. Being that individuals will be selected from each of the departments, all will be given clear objectives so that the entire team will be on the same page with different perspectives aligning together. The processing managers are the individuals that will deal with process more hands on than any of the other individuals. Sales will be dealing with getting a feel for how the product will fair in the market. Human resources will deal with the hiring of the employee that will be getting trained for the new positions that are going to get created from introducing the company’s new product. Robin will be tasked with setting clear objectives for the cross functional team and getting them to understand they are working together towards one main objective even though the member of the team represents different departments within the company. The team will have to keep an open line of clear and effective communication with each other so that everyone understands what is going on at all
