Sana, Colita De Rana

“Sana, Sana, Colita de Rana,” is a silly Hispanic chant which literally translates into “heal, heal, little frog's tail.” My mother, she would sing these few words while rubbing my injured knee with her soft worn hands. I no longer ask, "Why," instead I try and be an example for a little girl who is embarrassed for the way she speaks, her darker skin, and who is afraid to show the world her true self. After all, it is the little quirks which make us beautiful and

In focusing on the eight developmental stages, the counselor will focus on the stages of Hope: Trust vs. Mistrust, Will: Autonomy vs. Shame and Doubt, Purpose: Initiative vs. Guilt, Competency: Industry vs. Inferiority, and Fidelity: Identity vs. Role Confusion in Gary's life. The reason the counselor will use these stages is because of Gary's panic attacks, divorce, and denial of mental health and substance abuse in the past. The counselor has to be careful in the approach used because in the Hope stage trust has to be won because this could cause Gary to have a depressive psychological set-back. In the Will stage, Gary needs to know that he can move forward.…
