San Jose State students are at risk of sexual battery each time they are walking home on our campus. There have been several incidents regarding students becoming victims of sexual battery. For instance, on May 1, 2015 approximately 2:00am a young lady became a victim of sexual battery. She was walking between Sweeny Hall and Macquarrie Hall, when three male suspects on a bicycles passed the victim and one slapped her on the buttocks. The suspect was described as a white male adult with curly hair and a tye-dye shirt. The investigation is still open and no suspect have been arrested (SJSUalert). This could have been any female from San Jose State that was walking back from the bars, event or a friend’s house. Women should not be violated and taken advantage. His mother and wife have filed a civil rights lawsuit, they believe he was a victim of a hate crimes. The California State University system and Sigma Chi said he committed suicide and the case is still being investigated. The logical resistance would be that there is no concrete evidence against these allegations but it is sad that a mother would believe her son was victim of a hate crime since he was the only African American
