Walking through these long halls of the once crowded prison, it is hard to believe that it was once home to many of the worst offenders in American history. During the tour of the expansive grounds, I peered out a window to get a glimpse of the city skyline. I noticed something. You could almost hear the sounds of the city streets. I am sure that when the jail was still running, these sounds must have tortured the inmates at night as they could not be with these free people only a short distance away.
