In the month of July in 1940, The Tacoma Narrows Bridge construction was completed and open to the public. Although built upon request of the Tacoma Chamber of Commerce after arguing that building of the bridge would be more suitable to replace the ferry system that as the only way to get to the Gig harbour from Tacoma's Narrow Bridge. Despite an increase in traffic by about forty-five percent after its construction, very few predicted it would go downhill and pose a much bigger economic and technological…

In the process of designing my model for the bridge in Part B, I used the sliders given to move the parabola as close to my Sydney Harbor Bridge. While in Part D, I used pencil and paper to find the equations for the bridge. Primarily, I believe my equation for Part D was much more accurate than Part B. This is because errors such as calibration errors occurred within Desmos. The sliders on Desmos were measured in a large-scale reading, making it less precise for the parabola to match the bridge. When doing the calculation by hand, I was able to zoom in on the picture on Desmos to get a small (detailed) reading for my equation of the parabola.…

He captures the promise of California by giving specific examples from each of the arts and how they contribute to the creation of this promise. Of these arts however, photography and outdoors/sports are the best for exploring the connection between promise and the arts. The utilization of photography and the outdoors as an outlet to express the promise in California is a great technique that Starr uses in his article. The way Starr examines the promise of California through photography and the outdoors is very intriguing but one might not be able to realize how these relate…

The bridge was wobbling dangerously over deep waters. As Subramaniam mentioned, “Many felt sea-sick while crossing. “ Sir Norman Foster, a famous British Architect claimed to have designed the innovative nature of its design with the objective of "pushing the suspension bridge technology as far as possible, to create a uniquely thin bridge profile, forming a slender blade across the River Thames;” however, this confidence in his conceptual idea might have caused him to blindly build the structure without analyzing properly. The bridge was made of Aluminum decking and stiffened by suspension cables in the horizontal plane. No attempt was made to stiffen it in the vertical plane, which caused it to respond to the vertical forces due to pedestrians walking on…
