It was an early summer morning and the air was warm. Mother, happy and concentrated, was finishing putting the luggage into the van. My brothers and I are tired and excited for our trip to San Diego. Everything is packed and we’re on our way. Driving, talking, and laughing; we went along for hours until we finally arrived in San Diego. The air was suddenly refreshing and cool; you could feel the mist of the sea and smell the salt water the ocean. We checked into the hotel and we got on the elevator, we could see the ocean and boats at the docks. The rooms were small but comfy and elegant, and had a balcony for fresh air. On the ferry we traveled to an island to spend the day there. The island was full of flowers, trees, and kind people. We stopped to have breakfast at this small café. It smelled of coffee, donuts, and savory foods. After breakfast we spent the rest of our day at the beach in the warm sand and exploring stores on the island. We again returned to the hotel and sat out on the balcony playing Uno and listened to the sounds of the city. That night we also went out to look at fireworks for the Fourth of July. We sat on blankets at the park eating street tacos and playing Uno. The next day my mother and older brother went to take a tour of an aircraft carrier while my little brother and I stayed in the hotel, tired from the day before. Once they got back we packed up our things and got back on the road traveling home. We drove along taking naps, singing, and stopping for food and coffee. Finally we got back home and we all were happy, to feel the heat of the air, be in our own beds, and to have shared this experience together. Our experience was a good one and a happy one. I learned that you do not need lots of money or a whole week to have a fun trip. We had the best time in only three days and part of it was only driving there. So, do not think you need a lot of money or time to have a great vacation or experience. The best memories come when you would least expect

The location I chose for this assignment is my home county, San Diego. San Diego is known for having the best weather in the United States, which it can attribute to its geology. San Diego is also well known for consistent droughts; however, its current unique geography is a result of ancient rivers and seas depositing Cretaceous and Tertiary sedimentary rocks. As a result of these ancient rivers, “San Diego County can be divided between three distinct geomorphic regions: the Coastal Plain region as exposed west of the Peninsular Ranges, the Peninsular Range region, and the Salton Trough region as exposed east of the Peninsular Ranges. This geomorphic division reflects a basic geologic difference between the three regions, with Mesozoic metavolcanic,…
