Organizational strengths are positions of organizational power that are derived from the organization’s state of existence. Given the present-day struggles of the San Diego Chargers franchise it would be natural for one to assume that the Chargers franchise is devoid of any organizational strengths. In actuality, the Chargers franchise possesses a multitude of internal strengths, each of which are capitalized on to various extents. Of the many strengths possessed by the Chargers organization, there are three strengths that reign supreme: year-round exemplary weather, the size and economic strength of the city of San Diego, and its membership in the NFL –the world’s highest grossing professional sports league. Fortunately for the Chargers, they have the good fortune of being situated in a city that is both rivaled by few and has much for others cities to envy. The city of San Diego, with a population of over 1.3 million people, has the distinction of being the nation’s 8th largest city. (“About San Diego, California”) San Diego is also certainly not bereft of economic riches as the San Diego Metropolitan Area has a median household income of $66,192. (“San Diego-Carlsbad-San Marcos California Household Income”) The aforementioned figure becomes even more impressive when one takes into account the national average for household income —$53,657—a figure almost 13 grand less than that of the San Diego metropolitan area. (“San Diego-Carlsbad-San Marcos California Household Income”) Teams situated within a city with a large, relatively affluent, population such as San Diego-- are in an advantageous position due to their breadth of potential customers and their attractiveness to potential employees. The size of San Diego’s population and economy lend themselves into fostering a city that provides countless opportunities along with endless entertainment. In a matter that validates the existence of San Diego’s allure, in a recent Bloomberg BusinessWeek article, San Diego was cited as the 2nd most favored city to live and work in, second only to New York City.

Target Nation Analysis A. London has expanded rapidly over the last 20 years, from 18.7% to 22.7% of GDP between 1997 and 2015 and with a further increase to 24.8% of GD by 2022.…

In the court case that the NFL was brought into, the NFL decided to switch to an electronic database, to show that they are and will pay attention to head injuries. The database that is being used by the NFL was provided by Westborough based eClinicalWorks (Kotz). This will help study long term injuries to the head, because now the NFL has the power to keep all the records in the database. The Kansas City Chiefs have put themselves on the proverbial ropes the first 4 weeks of the 2015 NFL season, losing 3 out of those first 4 contests, two in heartbreaking fashion. It seemed a welcome reprieve would be the dysfunctional franchise from the Windy City, otherwise known as the “Monsters of the Midway”. The 2015 version of the Chicago Bears resembled nothing even close to your grandpa’s Midway Monsters. The Bears were weak at the wide receiver position, and quarterback Jay Cutler had missed half of the games already this year due to injury. The defense was suspect and the offense even more so.…

Without Dez Bryant, the Dallas Cowboys' offense has been crippled In hopes to improve an offense that’s struggling, the Dallas Cowboys, who’ve been snake bitten with injuries, have made a change at quarterback. Without quarterback Tony Romo, their four-time Pro Bowler and all-time franchise leading passer, the Cowboys were forced to roll with the arm of backup Brandon Weeden, after Romo fractured his left clavicle against the Eagles in Week 2. In three starts, Weeden completed 71 of 98 attempts, completing 72.4 percent of his passes. That looks sexy on paper, but with Weeden under center, Dallas’ passing game didn’t generate plays beyond intermediate distances to stretch opposing defenses for big plays.…

This article discusses how the NFL’s greed causes backlash that declines the growth of their profits. Over the years the NFL has tried to increase their profits through raising their commercial prices, the rights to air the game, cost of food, and relocating to different cities with bigger markets. Recently, however, new generations of fans have different habits that could change the game. For example, streaming services have limited the number of viewers who have cable and created a desire for zero commercials. Relocating, another method of increasing profits, sometimes results in a loss of fans for the sport and instead turn to other professional teams in the area.…

Kansas City Chiefs (11-5) at Houston Texans (9-7) What a season it has been for the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs were left for dead after starting the season 1-5, averaging 21.2 points per game over their first six contests. Since the dreadful start, Kansas City closed the regular season with 10 straight wins and has averaged 27.8 points per game over that stretch. Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith and a stout Kansas City defense have been the primary reason for the team’s turnaround. Smith has been virtually error-free this season as he has turned the ball over just seven times while producing 22 touchdowns.…

Collectively speaking, all four members of the AFC South haven’t had much to get excited about in recent years. While there have been glimmers of hope, particularly for the Houston Texans, having made three Divisional Round appearances (2011, 2012, 2016), the AFC South has been wildly inconsistent, especially following Peyton Manning’s departure from the Indianapolis Colts in 2011. Honestly, the only real consistency has been the Jacksonville Jaguars’ miserable performances, which haven't produced a season above .500 in nearly a decade! Presently, the Tennessee Titans have serious reasons for optimism.…
