Have you seen the big Wal-Mart stores and superstores in your area? Well it had to be found by somebody. Samuel Walton was born on March 29, 1918 in Kingfisher, Oklahoma. Samuel Moore Walton opened his first Wal-Mart in 1962 after years in the retail management business. This retail discount chain, by 2010 was the one of the worlds largest companies. Samuel Walton’s goal was to make a store that would offer the best prices and attract customers. This can also be revealed by their slogan “Save money live better, Wal-Mart.” Mr. Walton wanted to offer the same products sold elsewhere at cheaper and better prices. Even today, if you find a cheaper product elsewhere all you have to do is come to Wal-Mart with the ad and they will price match the competitors, to show that they offer the best prices. …show more content…
They want to be known in having the best price, and that is their main goal. Samuel Walton shows the entrepreneurial traits of concentration, persistence, creativity, independence, and willingness to take risk, which caused him to be a successful entrepreneur. Sam showed concentration and persistence by not giving up, and always going for what he wanted to do. He wanted to make his own store, but first he needed experience and needed to know how things work. So as soon as he finished college, Sam took a job at J.C.Penny, where he worked eighteen months. He got quite a bit of experience and then wanted to start a company of his own, a small one first. He first opened a “Ben Franklin Variety Store,” by himself, showing his independence.
