OUTLINE
A scientist is an individual who is studying or having an expert knowledge in one or more areas of science. The world we live in today would no doubt be a different place if it weren't for the amazing discoveries made by scientists. Samuel Finley Breese Morse is one of the scientists who discovered the telegraph and Morse code, which brought the great revolution in the total communication system. In early days people used to carry a message by travelling from one place to another place, this takes a lot of time. After inventing the telegraph, it became very easy to exchange message.

He was the first child of Pastor Jedidiah Morse and Elizabeth Ann Finley Breese. The Morse’s commitment to education had Samuel in Phillips Academy by the age of seven. Though he was not a brilliant student, his skills in the drawing were good. Both his parents and teachers encouragement led to Samuel Morse’s success with miniature portraits in ivory. After attending Phillips Academy, Samuel Morse went to Yale College to study religious philosophy, mathematics and science of horses. There he also attended lectures on electricity. During his college years, he managed his earnings by painting …show more content…
During the conversation with Jackson, Morse came to know that information sent via copper cables travels over great distance. Witnessing various experiments with Jackson’s electromagnet, Morse developed the concept of a single-wire telegraph. At first, Morse encountered the problem of getting a telegraphic signal to carry over more than a few hundred yards of wire. Later on with the help of Professor Gale, the problem was carried out by introducing extra circuits or relays at frequent intervals and was soon able to send a message through 10 miles of wire. This was the great breakthrough he had been seeking. Some other scientists started to create their own telegraph after they heard of Morse’s design, but no one got succeeded in developing fully functional device that transmits data over long
