The House of David spirals out of control from 2 Samuel 11 - 2 Kings 8 in every aspect imaginable. There is murder, rape, incest, war, adultery, and betrayal, many of which are must have plots for Hollywood hits. This narrative certainly has the feel of receiving an Oscar or Academy award and I can see why these stories got passed down from generation to generation for so long that they have ended up in multiple versions or edits of the same story. Confused that Uriah would be ignorant of the fact that the king has slept with his wife, and impressed that King David knows enough about a woman’s fertility cycle to demand that Uriah lay with his wife in order to conceal the fact that she is to have a child out of wedlock.
