Group 2 has decided to analyze the Samsung Galaxy Note7 smartphone. The product has become somewhat infamous over the past few weeks due to some devices spontaneously bursting into flames. The continuous issues faced by the product led Samsung to initiate a recall of all Galaxy Note7 devices. Samsung has started a refund and exchange program as well which will provide all customers who purchased this device the opportunity to exchange it for another Samsung smartphone or obtain a refund at the point of purchase (Galaxy Note7 Safety Recall and Exchange Program, 2016). In addition to the recall of the device, the United States Department of Transportation and Federal Aviation Administration have banned air transport of the Note7 effective October 15, 2016 (DOT Bans All Samsung Galaxy Note7 Phones From Airplanes, 2016). With all of the issues facing the Note7, Group 2 will explore ways Samsung may be able to reevaluate the product and reintroduce it at another time.
