The suicide of Samson in the Old Testament is one of the most well known cases of suicide in the Bible. Upon discovering the source of his strength, the Philistines were able to imprison Samson and pluck out his eyes. Samson plans on enacting revenge against the Philistines by toppling the pillars of the Philistine’s temple, an act that would kill the Philistines and Samson. The Lord grants Samson his strength again and he is able to topple the templing successfully killing himself and the temple’s occupants.

That's an interesting question. The only reasons why he didn't commit suicide that I can think of is the wisdom that follows the experiences of a daily human life. In order to comprehend different concepts in life, a lot of times people would put themselves into the situation itself and gain sense of sympathy and empathy as well as knowledge that will lead to "ultimate knowledge. " To obtain "ultimate knowledge," there should be a mechanism for critical and abstract thinking, and those experiences our mind have with our bodies develope the gears to ignite the train of thought. As for Socrates, there probably isn't a joy in mortal life, but just monotonous questions that needs answers.…
