Proper diet and nutrition is one of the most essential components to being healthy and living a long life. What we eat becomes our diet, and our diet plays a major role in deciding how healthy we are and how well we take care of our bodies. A proper diet must be approached with balance, variety, and moderation. I used the application MyFitnessPal to help me track my food and beverage intake. Based on my current weight and the fact that I want to loose around 20 pounds the app allowed me 1,520 Calories a day and would adjust my Calories based on how many steps I took that day and exercises I recorded. Unfortunately, the three days I took to log my food intake were some of the busiest days of the week for me. When I am busy or pushed for time the nutritional value of my food tends to decline tremendously. On Thursday I had time in the morning to have breakfast and pack a lunch to take to work whereas Friday and Saturday I was rushed for time and had to make decisions on the fly and I ended up choosing fast food on those days.
On Thursday, I ate and drank 817 Calories worth of food, which was way below my recommended, but I ate energy dense foods and was not left hungry. My sodium was low at 868mg and my cholesterol was also

They are pretty good at having foods entered from restaurants and I also like that they allow you to use their barcode scanner to automatically enter the food in for you. The only thing I believe they could improve on is the exercise feature of the application. It is difficult to gage what the mean by their intensity ratings and what I consider to be my intensity ratings. Also, It only counts the steps that it records you taking while you are holding your phone. I tried to connect my fitbit and the app would not display my total step and Calories burned from those steps. I ended up having to do the math myself and use the fitbit app as well as

I think the SuperTracker program is a very useful tool. The program allows you to keep track of your daily diet and to add in your activity level daily and you can see how many calories you are taking in and how many calories you are burning through physical activity. I think a program such as this can help a person be more accountable for what they eat. Personally, I have a problem with taking a bite of food here and there during the day. I do not always realize how many calories add up by doing that.…

Summary Throughout the Fitwell nutrition project I made many discoveries about my diet. Based on the Harris Benedict Equation, I found that I am eating approximately four hundred calories more than the suggested amount. This somewhat surprised me because I have not gained any weight since I arrived at college. However, what most likely put me over the top was my consumption of soft and crunchy white chocolate macadamia nut cookies that I so much enjoy.…

This project made me learn a lot about myself as a person. I was expecting to learn about my diet and whether it was healthy or not. I don’t really pay attention to what I eat and how much I eat. I realize i probably would have to reduce my intake of sodium. For example, try not to eat ham and fried chicken because those foods contain high amount of sodium and saturated fat. Fried chicken is a bad choice to eat in my diet. Making smarter decision of eating any food is very important in the food report analysis. Another adjustment I needed to do was increase on some of my vitamin and mineral intake.…

As shown in Appendix D the Daily Food Diary (Davis et al., 2008), it lists the foods I eat daily to maintain a healthy diet. I am 45 years old, fortunately I am overweight, since I’ve started eating healthier this past year I’ve lost 21 pounds. The best approach to weight control is to reduce your daily food intake and burn as calories by increasing exercise (Davis et al., 2008).…

I have learned a lot about nutrition so far over the course of this semester. This diet analysis project was probably the thing that I have least looked forward to having to complete. I know my diet is poor, I figured I ate too many bad foods, but I didn 't expect it to be lacking essential vitamins, minerals, and nutrients in so many different areas. It 's truly amazing to see foods I thought were "complete" and "good" for me, aren 't really, and may actually hinder me in the quest for a truly healthy diet.…

In particular, it is important to analyze my current diet, including nutritional habits, considering my own view of my body image, and becoming aware of potential risks for developing cardiovascular disease. After considering my current fitness level and formulating a plan with a reward system to get back in shape, I then analyzed my diet by keeping a food diary. Upon looking over my food diary, with the help of my Fitbit app, I was able to use lab 8.1 to analyze my calorie intake, my intake of fat, sodium, cholesterol, empty calories, and more. After the calculations were completed, I first looked at my total amount of calorie intake, based on off my age, height, sex, and activity level. With that, I was shocked to discover that I actually consumed fewer calories than what is recommended.…

For the Nutrition tracker, I decided to use the website My Fitness Pal. I used this site because I have already been using it to track my consumption for the last few weeks as I try to increase my overall health. In my opinion, my diet this week was very disappointing with respect to my diet goals. My diet was severely lacking with respect to its completeness. For the most part I had no real fruits or vegetables, the only consumption of those food groups came as a topping on my burger or other main entrees.…
