Fifty years ago, Gordon Moore, co-founder of Intel, observed that the number of transistors per square inch on integrated circuits tends to double ever year. What does that mean to you or me? With the processing power of computers doubling every two years, the need for capable personnel to stay ahead of the technology curve increases dramatically as well. This is where I come in.
Like many others, I have always been fascinated with electronics, but it is easy to date my electrical engineering journey back to the summer of 2012. With careful consideration, I decided to invest in my future by participating in the Pre-Freshman Accelerated Curriculum in Engineering (PACE) Program at Morgan State University. There was never any question in my mind whether or not I would attend graduate school. I know that my four years as an undergrad were not enough for me to master the electrical engineering field, but I used this time to experiment with different areas of research. There is always more to learn and while valuable learning experiences will come from hands-on work, having a solid foundation is crucial. I know that I will spend a number of years working in the industry. Moore’s law states that technology doubles each year; therefore during my time in industry, I will continue to do research in order to keep up with the fast changing field. Later on down the road, I hope to become a professor. I believe that you have the opportunity to learn the most while teaching others. These interests in creativity, innovation and eternal learning have turned into a genuine passion for electrical engineering.
