Abstract

Nicholas Copernicus was born to a wealthy family, but was taken to the care of his uncle at his father’s death. He was sent to university to study the law to become a church canon, but his interests laid on astronomy and mathematics. With the discovery of the flaws in Ptolemy’s theories, Copernicus came up with a conflicting theory about the movement of the heavenly bodies. However, his findings were kept low until the arrival of a German mathematician. Although, initial reaction from the public for his book was pleasing, the book was completely banned by the Church after his death…
