We use a chi-square goodness of fitness test when we have one categorical variable from a single population, and wish to determine if the sample data is consistent with a hypothesized distribution. For an example, Skittles company claim that these candies are equally distributed among 5 colors. To test this theory we would randomly select a sample package of 500 Skittles.This candy comes in 5 different colors (purple,yellow,green,orange,and red). We determined that 135 were purple,122 were yellow,73 were green, 57 were orange, and 113 were red. Based on our findings we can conclude that Skittles candies are not equally distributed among 5 different
