The results should allow best practices to be developed or allow the university to understand and address the roadblocks that impact student success. With a limited number of participants, trends can be developed and analyzed which could have an impact on campus climate, retention, student development, and graduation rates. Even though graduation rates may increase, and students may persist, there are factors which should be identified to assist students. Because the African American male population being small, the results may also allow best practices to be identified for the success of all students.
Research Questions As the research has shown, several factors can affect why African American students are not persisting to graduation. Since African American males are attending colleges and universities, then we must address the factors which are causing them to drop out of college before completing their degrees.
