I agree with the philosophy of the Department of Nursing at Southeast Missouri State University that every human being should be treated and cared for with both respect and dignity. Regardless of someone’s physical or mental state, they are still a living, breathing person and that fact should never be forgotten. Also, I am a firm supporter of the saying “we all bleed red” and this is the basis for how I treat people. No matter how someone’s ethnicity, religious views, sexual orientation, etc. may differ from my own, they are still a person and deserve to be treated with the same respect that I would want to be treated with. Always remembering that you are caring for a human being is very important concept in nursing because you see people at some of worst times of their lives. Patients and their family members put their trust in nurses to give them the best possible care. I, personally, believe that every patient should be treated as if it were my own family
