Hello Alvey,
I enjoyed reading your post since it demonstrated your passion towards secular friends. As you had friends who were not Christians, I had non-Christian friends. In high school, I yearned to see an organized presence of my student ministry among the student body. Although I was a significant, by God's grace, ambassador to my school, an organized presence, such as a club or volunteering at school events, would have enhanced my student ministry's voice in the community.
Usually, when I do my homework, I go to a nearby university's library. Regularly visiting this school made me realize that this school needs a presence of a Christian organized community. I repeatedly brought this idea to my student pastor, that is, since we had students

The site that I visited was Mercy Hill Church in Greensboro, NC. I went to a sermon, with some friends, that took place on a Sunday night. When we arrived at the church, we stayed together and observed the site. The members of this church all seemed to be within their twenties and thirties; there were a few younger children and a few older women and men, but not many. Most of these people seemed to be from Christian ethnic backgrounds or just unaffiliated with any ethnicity.…

I accepted Jesus as my personal Savior when I was eleven years old and believe strongly in attending a university that reflects my belief system. I attend church faithfully for both Sunday morning and night services as well as Wednesday night bible study. My Sunday School lessons further increase my knowledge of the Bible and the Christian walk. I have volunteered for Vacation Bible School for the past two years and have even gone door to door passing out fliers inviting children to attend. Recently, I realized that I wanted to become more involved with my community.…

I attend Abundant Rain Ministries in Coweta, Oklahoma; our church has a food bank called the Joseph House. Every Tuesday, Thursday, and the first and last Saturday of every month from 9am to 12pm, we give away food to those in need in the Coweta area. Working at the Joseph house has effected the way I see those around me, by analyzing my audience. Although not everyone is an open book, making it to where someone else can see exactly what is going on in their personal life. Being that not people, openly express how they’re feeling, or discussing the issues the face at hand with another person.…

“One of the secrets of life is making stepping stones out of stumbling blocks.” –Jack Penn As my thoughts raced and mocked every ounce of confidence that I could have possibly possessed, I impatiently prepared for what was about to come. It was finally my time to be in the limelight—my time to share my God-given talents. I came from a shy and insecure mindset, but being chosen for the soloist position in a new style of worship would change everything for me.…

Many people don’t know what they want to be when they “grow up”, as for my mother she didn’t know what type of religion she wanted to be in when she “grew up”. However, she did know the basics that she believed in which was God, the Holy Spirit, his son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Bible that being said she considered herself Christian and raised me as a Non-Denominational Christian. That was until my senior year of High School when my mom decided she no longer wanted to be part of the Non-Denominational Christian faith and switched over to becoming part of the LDS faith known as the Mormons and flipped my life upside-down with their different views of norms and values. Growing up Non-Denominational Christian is fairly simple faith and to me…

With the help of the teachers, and the other volunteers that were working with me, I learned how to be open to others and their opinions in small groups, and how to interact with kid that had serious problems in their life or had not accepted Christ as their personal Savior. By the end of the week, 126 kids gave their lives to Christ. In my group, I helped 5 of those kids know Jesus. I honestly can say that from this experience I feel that I have touched at least one of the kids I supervise. From getting personal with the kids in the small groups to just playing games or walking with them, I have truly connected and made a relationship with them.…

In order to fulfill the requirements of this paper, I attended a ministry called Common Ground. Common Ground is an after-school mentoring program for underprivileged children in kindergarten through fifth grade that reside here in Waxahachie, Texas. This ministry has volunteers that help the children with their homework, includes a reading program to help the children become better readers and improve their comprehension skills, and allows the volunteers to spend one-on-one time with the children in order to share the love of Christ to them. While attending this ministry I noticed not only one, but several social needs.…

I got involved with a small group with two other guys, one guy being a friend and the other being a campus staff guy. Through that small group we decided that our biggest need at the moment was being trained to read God word and able to share our faith with other people. I attended a 10 week long summer project in Tampa, Florida where I learned to share my faith for the first time and was able to led 5 people to Christ. It was a joy and a passion that begin to grow in my life. I developed a heart to take the gospel back to my campus where I wanted other people to hear the same thing that I had heard, knowing they could be in the same position I was at in college.…

On August 26, 2005, I gave my life to Christ, and it was the start of a whole new chapter of my journey. I still remember that night vividly in my head. The feelings of excitement, joy, and love were very tangible in my heart. My mom and dad were both sitting beside me on my bed while I was told the importance of this decision and how my life would never be the same. Even at 5 years old, I was aware of my decision to follow Jesus and accept him into my heart.…

During my childhood and lower teens, I was very involved in church. I would go to every event or meeting put on by our church. Watching certain senior youth members, I didn’t understand why they would just come to the fun events. I would only see them during our mission trips or camps, but never at business or regular meetings. Then I promised myself that I would always stay as active as I could.…
