So here's my breakfast: My cinnamon coconut oatmeal (250 calories), peanut butter (190 calories), and this half protein bar that I ate for dinner last night, I don't know its exact calories but I'm guessing 50-100 calories. I woke up late again today, at 8:45 AM. I tried to answer my alarm thinking it was my phone ringing. I figured I should get out of bed after that and made my way downstairs to the cold bitter air.…

A balanced diet that contains all the necessary nutrients will provide energy to individuals, as well as aid the regulation of body processes which is also known as homeostasis as described by Iggulden, MacDonald and Staniland (2009). As identified by Webb (2012) scientific research has allowed healthcare professionals to ensure individuals receive the correct ratio of macronutrients and micronutrients in their diets. Webb (2012) states that macronutrients include “carbohydrates, fats and protein” and are needed in higher quantities in comparison to micronutrients which include vitamins and minerals. The Eatwell guide provides individuals with further guidance regarding the types and quantities of food that is recommended by professionals, in order to maintain a healthy and balanced diet. It is endorsed by the British Heart Foundation (2016) and it states at least five portions of fruit and vegetables should be eaten per day, to make up just over a third of your food intake per day.…

The calculated amount is higher than my average intake of calories, because through the three days my average caloric intake was calculated to be 2,313 kcal. My caloric intake is still higher than my average expenditure (2,305 calories) which is good, because it is only higher by a relatively small amount. In the section labeled calories for the day it was calculated that my total calories for the day are below my goal, but after comparing the two numbers ( 2,522 and 2,313) I’m only under by a fairly small amount of 219 calories per day. This is probably where I should be though, because I believe I fall in between what they would consider to be active and sedentary. My carbohydrates intake is also below the goal, but this was suggested in the calorie and fat report, because my AMDR for carbohydrates was at the lower end of the scale.…

For the Nutrition tracker, I decided to use the website My Fitness Pal. I used this site because I have already been using it to track my consumption for the last few weeks as I try to increase my overall health. In my opinion, my diet this week was very disappointing with respect to my diet goals. My diet was severely lacking with respect to its completeness. For the most part I had no real fruits or vegetables, the only consumption of those food groups came as a topping on my burger or other main entrees.…

During the food diary project I learned many things about who I am as an eater and how I balance school and athletics. At the beginning of this assignment I thought it would be pointless and stupid, but as the week progressed I began to understand the point of the assignment. The first day I recorded my food intake, not included in my diary, the tracker made me feel self concious of what what I was eating. So for the next five days I made sure that I tried to achieve a full, balanced diet. This was very tough for me because I really like food.…
