Sample Nursing Personal Statement

My past experience as a Community Volunteer, Mother, Instructor and Paramedic in a range of capacities both medical and non-medical, as well as the knowledge I have gained throughout my career will definitely be a contribution to the nursing profession. With over thirty years of medical experience ranging from Athletic Training and Exercise Science and Physiology to Emergency Medical Services to teaching Anatomy and Physiology and Medical Terminology I have achieved a perseverance towards patient centered care and advocacy. I have had the opportunity to engage in a tremendous amount of education beginning with a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Medicine, extra course work in Pre-medical sciences and a Master’s degree in exercise science, physiology and Sports Management. I have had many opportunities to be involved in medical research, including for the Red Cross in the search for a more cohesive CPR and First Aid class. The culmination of my education and research opportunities will allow me to contribute, not only knowledge but research experience and ideas to the profession and future of nursing. Not only medical experiences but experiences of collaboration with community healthcare workers, patient advocacy, communication to many different populations of patients and a sense of community outreach, all of which are a part of the comprehensive care of a Registered Nurse and can improve the overall physical and mental health of a community. This along with my dedication and passion for the health, well being and caring of patients will be my contribution to the Nursing
