I have decided to pursue an advanced degree in nursing because of my love for science, healthcare and helping others. It has always been a passion for me to help families in any way that I can. I have had the honor of working closely with some amazing nurses when I worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant and I saw some of the responsibilities that nurses have. The nurses I worked with performed many tasks like, physical exams, coordinating doctor’s appointments, administering and prescribing medication, and helping residents and families through end of life care. The nurses performed theses tasks under stressful situations, yet they were still compassionate, understanding and caring towards the resident and their families needs. I believe that I can give caring and empathetic care under stressful conditions to patients because I exhibit those qualities. I believe nursing incorporates not only the caring aspect of healthcare but also …show more content…
Nurses form close bonds with patients that allows for a confident and comfortable interaction between nurse and patient. This permits for the opportunity to learn facts about the patient that doctors do not; due to the minimal time they spend with patients. As a little girl I always wondered, why I always saw the nurse that worked with my doctor first and had a comfortable chat with her and possibly shared more about how I was feeling with her then with the doctor. I never felt as comfortable with my doctor as I did with her and I never felt the need to communicate with my doctor like I did with the nurse. I imagine that having a relationship with the patient is important for the reason that it allows the patient to be more open feel no need to try to hide anything. I aspire to be a family nurse practitioner because they form meaningful relationships with their patients throughout the

From a young age, I witnessed how nurses cared for people, how they showed compassion, and how they provide reassurance during moments of chaos and fear. When my uncle was diagnosed with cancer, it was the nurse that comforted my family during moments of despair, it was the nurse who educated us and answered our numerous questions, and it was the nurse who was the first to respond and care for my uncle till his last few moments. Throughout nursing school my philosophy became to be like the nurses who cared for my uncle, to create a long-lasting impact on my patient’s life and to make a difference for my patients. I quickly realized that to make a difference, to provide adequate care for my patients, and to be the best nurse possible, not only must I provide physical care for the patient, but I also have to address all dimensions of wellness for my patient’s, their family, and myself. As I seek a position as a pediatric staff nurse, I understand the importance of caring for the patient, the patient’s family, and myself.…

Nursing is a profession that not only requires knowledge of the human body, but also understanding the essentials a patient require in order to recuperate. Nursing should be patient-centered care that supplies patients the reinforcement needed to properly recover. Nurses are the first person a patient wakes up to after a procedure. They are the ones that continue to establish a connection with the patient until the patient is discharged from the hospital. I believe that nurses possess the ability to assist patients, develop an understanding attitude when patients are not at their ideal state of being, and deliver a compassionate touch to aid in the recovery process.…
