On Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at approximately 10:15 A.M. I completed my gross motor observation in Mrs. Sayre’s classroom at Breton Downs Elementary school. I observed William, a six-year-old member of the first grade classroom. My observation was done during the classroom exercise time. Gross motor activities that I witnessed were as followed: dancing, jumping, walking, and clapping. William was standing roughly fifteen feet in front of me, eyes looking ahead to the screen as he waited for the substitute teacher to put on the GoNoodle exercise activity. The activity, a consensus pick from the classroom, was a video based off the movie Trolls that was a dance and sing along movement video to the song “Can’t Stop This Feeling” by Justin Timberlake. The song bordered on three minutes in length. As the song started, William was raising one fist to the air while standing on the opposite leg. He would move in a skipping motion alternating which leg he was on with the opposite arm in the air. They performed this movement for roughly seven seconds. Next William motioned from his left side to his right, now …show more content…
At this point about a third as much as previously done when he went to jump earlier. He had his right arm bent with his hand holding onto the back of his head. He had all of his fingers and his palm touching the back of his head. His other hand was outstretched entirely. He made the motion of a sprinkler, going slowly one way and then digressing partly back the other. While making this sprinkler motion, he twisted at his torso to make the rotation effect of the sprinkler. Every time he bent his legs, he would do the sprinkler motion once more. After about five motions of this action he jumped into the next movement. They followed back into the previous movement of pivoting their weight side to side while clapping their hands above their head. This lasted for about another five or six

When I thought of a steel band before I would think of just tubas and trumpets, I never thought it would be a band of Caribbean type steel drums. From the very beginning I was greeted with many interesting details which presently surprised me. Overall Western Kentucky University’s Steel Band concert was a very entertaining and eye-opening experience.…

I can empathize with teachers who say that the observation and evaluation process does not seem reciprocal in nature. Most of my follow-up evaluations have either been waived or conducted in five minutes or less in which the principal hits upon the highlights of my observation. Very few teaching lessons have been learned through these interactions. In her article though, Shelly Arneson includes sound practices that can be implemented to alleviate many of the concerns of the evaluation process. Her basic premise is to shift the dialogue from inspection-based conversation to a reflection-based conversation.…
