Through the Christian Catholic charity organization, Share Life, a positive difference in the community is made, through following the words Jesus gave for his children. Share Life is able to cherish everyone from birth until death through their variety of helping hands and creative thinking to make a change. The Catechism also teaches when disadvantages happen it is most important to continue helping others. (CCC 1932). Helping others is not for one not to worry about their benefit, but for the benefits others will gain from this deed. In addition, helping others through the simplest way means it is being done as if it is for Christ himself. Supporting and helping others is not only done to those who are Christian, or have the same beliefs, but to everyone (CCC 1933). Just as Jesus’ love extends to everyone, even those who show hatred, stray away from him and are enemies. Support and kindness should also be showed to everyone regardless of who they are, as Jesus would do today. Jesus forgives everyone and his children can do the same with other people. Everyone is called to reach out to anyone around them despite what their racial, economic and religious differences may be. Through forgiveness and serving others, people can work together to have a positive impact on each other and the …show more content…
Kant’s philosophical theory says, “good is only good if [it] [is] done out of good will and provide no personal gain” (DeFrancesco). Therefore, Kant would agree Share Life’s mission to help their surroundings is good since there is no personal gain, instead there is the glory of seeing others happier and living a better life. Moreover, Kant would also agree with Share Life’s mission to help others despite who they are because they are acting in a way that could become the universal law. Kant believes actions being performed should be done in a way where everyone else can follow it and it can become the universal law. Share Life preforming their mission through their charitable actions indicates they are acting in a way where everyone should take the same lead and make a difference in their community. Next, Kant would also say Share Life’s dedication to helping others is good because “it is done for the sake of duty” (DeFrancesco). As a Christian organization, Share Life abide to Jesus’ words set for his children to follow in the earthly world. Meaning, as Christians it is their duty to use the abilities given to them by God to help others around them. Share Life follows Jesus’ words as his children should and for this reason Kant would say what they are doing is good. Finally, Kant states “the existence of God helps the supreme good to be [reached]” (DeFrancesco).

In today’s society, people are swept up in the wrath of being too prideful, or become greedy. These deadly sins deaden our religious life, causing us to distance ourselves from God’s path. Everyone must dig deep into their spiritual lives, and lend a helping hand to those who need it the most. Whether it’s simply having a conversation with a homeless person, donating money, or volunteering at a daycare for the destitute children, these charitable acts can make a huge difference in someone’s life. My service learning experience was an eye opener for me, and it made me realize how privileged and blessed I truly am.…

Mark Tranvik does an amazing job in translating Martin Luther's treatise: The Freedom of a Christian, where Luther contrasts countless religious components - the body (the inner person) and soul (the other person), and faith and works, - these subjects Luther's uses as an attempt to strengthen and return the Christian faith to its true origin. He argues that works have no effect in obtaining righteousness or salvation, instead it is a natural product of humanity. Instead, acknowledging that salvation is and righteousness is solely attainable through faith, which is the only true way humans can reconcile with God. For all rulers, nobles, Roman Catholic officials - all Christians alike- are held to the same standards of spirituality and faith. Luther is successful in his argument of faith over bodies of work to obtain salvation, when he draws support from scripture and historical context of that time.…

I tend to think of this point as the most important point. Standing and serving those in need doesn't have to just be the poor, it could be a friend who was being bullied, or someone who simply needed help with homework. As Catholics, we stand by people who need assistance rather than running away and ignoring them. This summer, I worked at the Center for Food Action, which is a food bank in north Jersey. Helping out and delivering the canned good and donations to the needy was such an amazing experience.…

On a blazing hot afternoon, I was with my Peer Ministry. It seemed like our whole group, interacting with the sizable population of homeless on the streets of Riverside, CA, was working like a fast food crew; we were distributing food from our cars at a superhuman pace. This activity seemed like any ordinary job our group did together — until I handed a brown paper bag to a homeless African American man. His expression registered shock. He put his hand on my shoulder and said, “Son, how did you know I needed help?”…

Individualism is what many consider the backbone of American culture or American dream. I find that is actually the reason for our slow fall and demise. Basically, while giving, the giver is able to learn something about themselves, while helping others. The lesson learned would be that it is better to give than to receive. Imagine if everyone in the community had this mindset, it would be as if no one was losing anything because someone else would give to them right back what they gave out. With the right mindset and heart of giving back to the community the person giving can receive person growth in their own…

Kant and Aristotle have similarities and differences when it comes to their ethical theories. Both men believed in logically understanding what was right and moral, but just in different ways. Jesus is trying to explain that it is easy to love, help, and forgive people that is closely related to a person. However, doing the same for someone outside this circle, and that do not provide any reason to be loved, is the real challenge (Matthew 5:47). This teaching, can be found not only in Christianity and all of its denominations, but in other religions and worldviews too. In other words, it is not necessary to be a Christian in order to be good to everyone, and the idea of not hating others is one of the core values of most actual societies. This a great example of how Jesus set a standard for all the people who lived among His days, the ones that preceded them, and the ones that live today.…
