My mother and I attended the wedding and it was beautiful. I could see the love in their eyes for each other. This made me think to myself, how could anyone hate them for truly loving each other? How would a straight couple feel if someone told them their love was wrong and that they could not get married? Why should someone else be able to make decisions about their lives? To me, it is horrible so many state laws are able to tell any couple if they can get married or not. Although many states have legalized same-sex marriage, Michigan, Kentucky, Ohio and Tennessee have not. In 2014 a judge upheld the ban in those states. As an American, I have to respect other points of views and opinions, but I sure as hell don’t have to agree with those states or other opinions. Unfortunately, the discussions about same-sex marriage are not always reasonable or nice. There are extremists out there who, in my opinion, are horrible people. For example, people in the Westboro Baptist Church believe that all LGBTQ’s will go to hell or that because of these “sins” God kills children and soldiers. They even have the audacity to picket American soldiers’ funerals with signs saying “God hates fags and God kills soldiers” because of their sins. In America everyone is allowed to have their own opinions, but to me the Westboro Baptist Church is no church at all. They are a hate group. This is not any church I would go to or be a part
