Same Sex Marriage Argument Essay

As of late, there have been many different discussion about whether same-sex marriage is legal which, is actually an argument over what side is right. Different states have stated that same-sex marriage is correct, which came because homosexuals want it to be considered right all over the world. One large reason that so many people have taken the side of the homosexuals is because they figured out how to voice their ideas. Same-sex marriage has been illegal for thousands of years and should not become legal now just because a minority is furious at the law. No matter what happens someone will be angry at a law, but sometimes we need to do what is best even though some people may not like it. In an article written by Tatad, Francisco S., “Chief Justice John Roberts laments: ‘The Court invalidates the marriage laws of more than half the States, and orders the transformation of a social institution that has formed the basis of human society for millennia, for the Kalahari Bushmen and the Han Chinese, the Carthaginians and the Aztecs. Just who do we think we are?’” These laws have not changed through the centuries even though these were problems during ages past. Why should we change a law that has been proven right throughout the earth’s history? The majority knew that same-sex relationships were wrong and so they kept it that way. Nowadays the majority still knows that homosexuality is wrong. As stated in the quote above, more than half of the states have rejected same-sex marriage because they know that it is morally and physically wrong. Knowing that the majority of the population knew that homosexuality is wrong should have changed the government’s verdict on same-sex marriage but surprisingly it did not.
