Who is the legal guardian of the child in terms of custody? Will the child be bullied because of their parents? How is bullying stopped? Will that child grow up the same as any other child would? Does a parent’s sexual orientation determine the child’s sexual orientation?
Viet Nguyen, the secretary of Texas Tech University’s Gay-Straight Alliance, said she sees no difference between children of same-sex couples and heterosexual couples.
“There’s nothing wrong with them, mentally, physically, academically, there’s nothing wrong,” Nguyen said.

However, he added that when children are in school, the majority of them have a mom and a dad. Some of these parents do not think it is okay to have two moms or two dads, he said.
“But like me personally, I don’t see why it would matter,” Sauceda said. “They’re getting the love and everything they would get if it was a mom and a dad.”
The New Family Structures Study was conducted to see how the different upbringings of young adults in America affected different aspects of their lives.
The study asked from a range of one to five how overall happy they were. It was reported an average of 3.87 of adults raised in a lesbian household to be overall happy, while adults raised in gay households reported an average of 3.72 of overall happiness. On the other side, an average of 4.16 of adults from intact heterosexual families said they were overall happy. The unprecedented rise of Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election, shocked the political system of the United States. Donald Trump’s victory on november eighth exposed the immense flaws in both American society and the Republican Party itself. Donald Trump’s rejection of the political norms, refusal to apologize, distrust of societal institutions and the racial and religious undertones of Trump 's campaign, are strikingly similar to the rise of Martin Luther in the 16th century. Donald Trump and Martin Luther, challenged the establishment and alone faced off against the two most powerful institutions in history, the Catholic Church and the government of the United States. Luther’s rejection of the church in “Ninety Five theses” to Trump’s…

As Mike Pence prepares to take office as Vice President, the LGBTQ+ community awaits the many difficulties he may pose for their fight for equality, especially considering his stance on conversion therapy for homosexuals. Despite United States Surgeon General David Satcher issuing a report in 2001 stating that there is no valid scientific evidence that sexual orientation can be modified or changed with medical or psychological intervention, Mike Pence has involved himself in supporting efforts that seem to be linked to conversion, or “reparative,” therapy. Fighting conversion therapy is nothing new to the LGBTQ+ community. Since the early Freudian period, many have attempted to change sexual orientations to fit hegemonic standards of the corresponding…

Even though the topic of gay parenting receives a lot of negative feedback, it still continues to acquire many advocates that continue to fight for the cause. Recent studies at the University of Melbourne have proven the claim that the children of same-sex couples have an above average rate of health and overall well-being (Holliday). When children in same-sex parent families were tested on general health and family cohesion they scored roughly six percent higher than children of traditional heterosexual families. However, when the scores were compared between children of traditional and nontraditional families (when the tests involved categories of mood, behavior, mental health, emotional role, and self-esteem) the results were equivalent…

    1) The message that I think Gillian Dunne is trying to get across to her readers is the fact that we as a society think of parents and families consisting of a man and a woman. Clearly this is not always the case. Sometimes there are two men in the relationship and sometimes there are two woman. Despite this fact, it doesn’t mean that people in a same-sex relationship are any worse at being parents than a normal and traditional opposite sex relationship.…

Should parents be held accountable for the actions of their children? Hearing about what is happening in schools all across the country, being a parent they should talk to their children more about the outcome of something bad happening, maybe not as many young teenagers would go partying, do drugs or bully someone to the point of death. Communicating with your child is probably the biggest outcome of how he or she acts. Teaching them to respect the feelings of others and having them vent their frustrations and anger are all within the parent’s realm of authority (Coconi). It is a parent’s responsibility to recognize their child’s behaviors and rectify them before an innocent or weaker child is hurt (Coconi).…
