This song described some of the stereotypes associated with gender identity, and how these can affect individuals, from as early as eight years old. This helps the reader further understand how our society is shaping insecure individuals by discriminating against differences that should be celebrated, not despised. The singer uses examples from our wider world to connect to the audience and bring a greater understanding of how the individual might feel. By doing this, the singer is encouraging the reader to think about their own experiences and relate to the the character.

These stereotypes are mostly negative, even though they are very prevalent in our society. An example of this is the way that 1.6 billion muslims are often unfairly treated, and associated with terrorism, when it is in fact only a very minute percent of the muslim population that partakes in any type of terrorist activity. By doing this, these individuals are greatly disadvantaging the 1.6 billion muslims that are not radical extremists. This is an example of a stereotype negatively impacting a very large group of people. I also related to this how some countries have taken a significant step to acknowledging Gays and Lesbians by legalising same sex marriage. In NZ same sex relationships were decriminalised long before marriage was legalised, but the fight continues in other parts of the world where this is not
