Evolution In a murky windy city of San Francisco, A tall, handsome man named Sam Spade is multitasking his desires and job while solving the biggest Mystery; finding the Maltese Falcon. Arthur, Dashiell Hammett wrote the book in third-person point of view making it interesting as the story made us the detective as well, unraveling and putting the puzzles together for the offenses. Realistically, in a 21-century investigation, there are different morals and aspects when pursuing a case. The world has changed its diversity in many ways. For instance, in A&E hit show The First 48, detectives use technology and teamwork to solve an investigation. Investigators now have different principles and conduct in their business. In similarity, Spade and a modern day detectives have the same goal; close the case. On the other hand, based on today’s generation and the change of laws, the …show more content…
Spade is a misanthrope, one of his weaknesses is reliability and the following guidance and rules. Being very blunt in his communication skills with the police they start to consider him the main suspect of the murder of miles. They strain to convince him on speaking, but his responses are never clear always responding broadly. Meanwhile, Sam is hiding Brigid from the constabulary. He never speaks of her, especially to the police. Later, Spades lawyer confronts him on being wary and not cooperating with the cops, spade replies, “My clients are entitled to a nice amount of privacy. Maybe I can be made to talk to a Grand Jury or even Coroner's Jury, but I haven't been called before either yet, and it's a cinch I'm not going to advertise my clients' business until I have to." (Hammett) According to his own guidelines, he will not share any information on Brigid due to the confidentiality of his practice. Even though his liberty is in jeopardy, he puts his beliefs

In Maltese Falcon by Danshiell Hammett, in the beginning of the story you are given two main characters that are important to the whole plot of the book: Brigid O’Shaughnessy the woman claiming to be looking for her “missing sister” and Detective Spade the man trying to find out who killed his partner.
