The purpose of James was to encourage people to live a Christian life, to resist temptation and be faithful to God in all ways. "Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him (James, 1:12). So as people live in the Christian way by spreading the word of God and living in the light of Him, doing right, they will be praised. God promises the Kingdom of Heaven to those who are faithful, and that is the reward.
