Salve Regina University is one the most prestigious universities in the United States that encourages the growth of students in their academic and extra-circular activities. Salve Regina has an expanding community of international students along with programs that help students study abroad and expand their knowledge in different areas in order to grow as individuals. During short-term study abroad experiences, Salve’s professors embark on a journey with their students that will not only be adventurous and life changing but also educational. Being located in a city that is surrounded by historical buildings, students are fortunate enough to live in historical buildings along with exploring the historical houses in Newport, RI. The name of the event came about because of the former governor, which has been a huge success since it first started. Students at Salve Regina benefit from this event significantly because they are able to earn an education and graduate from an admired university. The governor was involved in numerous organizations and he always made sure to complete his task with the best interest of his people. According to the Providence Journal, Garrahy once said, “I hope they remember me as a Governor who worked hard, who tried to do the best he could for the state. That when I made decisions, I always tried to make them in the best interest of the entire state.” Former Governor Garrahy certainly made his decisions based on the best interest of his people because he created an event that serves as a way to help students.
