Kelp, our one and only source of nutrition, is nearly gone. With the remaining resources we have, we’d only last a few more weeks. Along with our weak source of kelp, it has contracted an extreme disease that seems to be spreading rapidly. There are scientists that are working on a solution for the contracted virus, however, there seems to be no sign of a solution, nor no signs of obtaining an idea for the solution either. On top of this, it seems our water source has been rapidly decreasing, as the scientist have been using it as a main ingredient in their solution to the kelp epidemic.…

Cuba was launched into what is known as “El Periodo Especial” or translated, “The Special Period”. Farmers had no access to fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides or parts to repair ailing equipment, and basic necessities such as food and medicine were scarce. My point is that not only did Cuba lose “access to food, which reduced Cubans' protein intake by 30 percent" (p. 49), as a result of the breakdown and ultimate collapse in trade between Cuba and Russia but, as Ergas (2013) goes on to point out, “Cubans’ caloric intake decreased to approximately 1,863 calories a day” (p. 50). Though I concede that food shortages were already bad when Hurricane Michelle ravaged the island nation in 2001 leaving $1.86 billion U.S. dollars in damage and affecting…

“In addition to the personal losses of homes and crops, more than 716 schools, numerous health facilities, and the existing sanitation infrastructure in Haiti all suffered damage as a result of Hurricane Matthew” (UNICEF Haiti). This damage has resulted in limited access to clean water and numerous cases of water-borne diseases. A new water purification system as well as information on the transmission of disease is necessary to help the people of Haiti’s southern peninsula. Haiti is no stranger to natural disaster, as it suffered a devastating 7.0 magnitude earthquake in 2010 and has been dealing with a Cholera outbreak ever since. In addition, Haiti has suffered from “high levels of vulnerability due to a three-year El-Niño-induced…

One of the main differences between these confessions of faith is that the New Hampshire Confession of Faith is silent onthe practice of homosexuality. In this time, homosexuality was widely regarded as a sin by the overwhelming majority of Christians (and pagans) of the time, yet in modern times, the line is not as clearly drawn in the sand. The Baptist Faith and Message of 2000 clearly prohibits homosexuality as a sin, claiming that “all forms of sexual immorality, including adultery, homosexuality, and pornography” are to be strictly forbidden by those who attach themselves to the church (Article XV). The New Hampshire Confession of Faith sees the Lord’s supper as an emblem of the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ, one that is “preceded…

I believe that Jesus is the Messiah. The definition of savior according to the dictionary is a person who saves someone or something from danger, and who is regarded with the veneration of a religious figure. According to Luke Timothy Johnson, Jesus is the Messiah who the New Testament declares is the Son of God who came to this earth to suffer willingly and die for our sins. Christian religious tradition (or Christianity) has long been thought of as a set of dogmas, sacraments and moral attitudes linked with a belief and reverence in God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit as captured in the stores of the Bible. Within Biblical gospels one find descriptions of the many miracles Jesus Christ bestowed upon mankind, stories that became fundamental to Christian belief, where the faithful profess to the genuine nature of these stories as factual truths. Given the structure of the Christian religious traditions, Christian’s belief in miracles, expressions of divine intervention and the adherence to teachings, practices, and rituals associated with the faith with an established heritage and long history, many scholars…

The Love of God God is the creator of all life and he is the highest of all powers, he embodies all ‘persons’ (The Father, The Son, and The Spirit). Although we cannot be as him, we should try to follow his guidance. In this world, it is easy to get wrapped in earthly things. We are humans, and many of times we fail by trying to hold a certain status, gain certain materialistic possessions, and cause great emotional/physical harm to one another. In my beliefs, that is not the way one should live.…
