In his Essay about religion, Hughes talks about how he was saved from sin but than later mentions he was not really saved. At age 12 Hughes went to church with his Aunt Reed where he was invited for a chance at salvation. His aunt told him that if he was saved he would see a light meaning jesus had come to his life. Hughes took what his aunt said really literally. He sat in church waiting to see this "light". The preachers surmon was really meaningfull and had people crying. King said the first lengh of life is developing inner power , he also said refering from the book written by Joshua Liebman one can not love anyone else before they love there self properly. The second dimension of life is helping others by loving humanity. king said whatever effects one directly affects all indicerectly and the third dimension of life is to reach up and discover god. King mention most people only reach the first two dimensions of life and end with that think that humanity is is God.
