Salvador Dalí was born on May 11, 1904 in Figueres, Spain in the foothills of the Pyrenees Mountains. He was born to Salvador Dalí Cusi and Felipa Domenech Ferres.(Biography) Dalí was the second born of three children. When Dalí turned four years old his parents enrolled him into a primary school in Figueres. In 1916 his parents enrolled him into Colegio de Hermanos Maristas. In 1921 Dali mother passed away after battling breast cancer. In 1922 Dali enrolled into Academia de San Fernando. In 1929 Dali met Elena Dmitrievna (Gala) Diakonova and was remarried in 1934. In 1930 Dalí became a major public figure for the Surrealist movement.(Biography) But after war was upon Spain he was kicked out of the group. During WWII he and his wife Elena moved to the United States and was remain there until 1948. From the early 1960s to 1974 Salvador occupied most of his time to creating the Teatro Museo Dalí. Dali at the age of 14 saw his soon to be museum’s building ,when he went to see the Municipal Theatre of Figures. Dali seemed to keep things that had sentimental value close to him, the church where Dali had been baptized and received his first communion, and just blocks away was the house where Dali was born. Both of these things are located in the same vicinity as his priceless museum.(Biography) Soon after this huge accomplishment Dali’s art career was cut shorter than he anticipated when he was forced to retire in 1980, because of a motor accident that made him tremble and have weakness in his hands. Dali had lost the most important thing in his life the ability to express his feeling in the only way he knew Soon after in 1982 he had also lost his wife, Gala.
