Salvador Domingo Felipe Jacinto Dali i Domenech was born on May11th 1904. He was born in Figueres, Spain. He began painting at a very young age. Salvador made a lot of notable artwork. One of his best known work was “The Persistence of Memory” which features many melting clocks . His unusual paintings sculptures, paintings, and visonary explorations in film ushered a new generation of imaginative expression. Salvador always took great risks and showed how special the world can be when you embrace creativity. Salvador Dali was born on May11th 1904. His older brother born on october 12th 1901 died 9 months before Salvador was born. His parents named him Salvador after his deceased brother and told him he was a reincarnation of his brother. …show more content…
He already drew attention as being weird with long hair, sideburns, a coat, and etc. He experimented cubism in his paintings and it earned him more attention. He was expelled from the Academia in 1926 for refusing to be examined in the theory of art and saying the examiners were incompetent to judge him. His painting skills showed in “The Basket of Bread”, and in that same year he met Pablo Picasso. The leader of the surrealism movement Andre Breton exposed Salvador to the world. In 1925 Salvador had his first solo exhibit in Barcelona. After leaving the academy his artwork began to become more bizarre and weird. In August 1929 he met his future wife”Gala”. He painted one of his most famous paintings “The Persistence of Memory” in 1931. Salvador moved away from surrealism and into a primarily new style known as the “classical” period. After being kicked out of the Surrealism movement salvador stayed in France with his wife where his work began to evolve more. he was inspired by the psychoanalysis of Sigmund Freud, whom Salvador met in 1938. Salvador and his wife left Europe during World War 2 and came to America. Salvador has been cited as an inspiration from many other artists. His famous mustache made him a cultural icon.
