Unfortunately, Salt on the Earth was never released commercially in the United States because of a well-financed red-baiting campaign organized against it as stated in the “Story Structure in Latino Films” by Mario Barrera. The film helped me understand this concept be revealing that films had to have certain qualities that would fit any audience, since this fil was about a woman’s movement in act starting and equality towards Mexicans. It did not really meet the standards the United States was looking for at that time. It would have not made much money and the corporations were looking for a commodity of consumption.
