Salsa dance got very popular in the mid-1970s in New York City, but its origins are from Cuba. Salsa is a mix of Danzon, which was brought by the French who fled from Haiti, Rhumbas of African and Son of the Cuban people. The name “salsa” or mixtures was characterized as a dance that started in New York, but there were others origins for the word. Some believe salsa dancing and music is a mixture of different styles just like salsa or “sauce” in Latin American countries is a mixture of different ingredients. Salsa dancing has expanded from earlier Cuban dancing to the Caribbean and the world. It also has different styles as Cuban, Colombian, Puerto Rican, L.A, and New York salsa. Salsa dancing works in many styles of dancing and rhythm as well.
