Salmon Bay: A Short Story

Great Essays
It was like any other day in the Akomish home of Salmon Bay. The seagulls were flying about, and the sun was as radiant as ever. Yet for, some reason it felt like today was gonna take an unforeseeable turn, you felt it in your gut. What had you extremely puzzled however, was the reason behind that unshakable feeling. You didn't know what it was! You were taking a stroll by the bay in Salmon Bay to take your mind of a few things, to have some time to yourself. Isabel was generous enough to drop you off at your desired destination and even offered to give you a ride back home as well. In which you graciously accepted, seeing as to how you don't have a car of your own. Still, you felt very appreciative towards how helpful Isabel was being and …show more content…
It was a tall man who appeared to be spray painting an owl, coincidentally enough a creature you were very fond of, on a very large boulder.

The man was still unaware of your presence so you used that to the best of your advantage and took a seat on a nearby log to observe his work. You've been to several art galleries before, courtesy of your father's contacts, and have seen many famous paintings. Yet all branches of visual arts are very distinct from one another and you of all people knew that. Street Art just so happened to have always been a secret favorite of yours. It was spunky and illegal.

After several minutes of continuous spraying sounds the mysterious man was still not aware of your loitering form not too far from him. That was until he finally turned around and was immediately greeted by your unanticipated form. His eyes went wide with surprise, then his lips curled into a small smirk admiring your craftiness, then he went into a slight panic mode again as he realized he had just be caught vandalizing a defenseless

"So you're not gonna call the cops-if you didn't already?"

You shook your head from side to side and gave him a small reassuring laugh, "I've seen and been around enough authority for one life to care about reporting you to the cops. Especially for something like this, I mean it's really good. Wouldn't wanna see you get in trouble for something this small and definitely wouldn't want them to erase it or something."

It was at that moment when you finished talking did you really get a chance to get a good look at the man. He wore black shoes with two yellow lines on it's sides, regular black jeans which complimented his tall frame, a red, white and blue plaid shirt, and a burgundy beanie to top it all off. He had a tan complexion and an interesting green Navajo tattoo on his left forearm, and one of the most attractive faces you have ever seen. The more you looked at him the more appealing he became. It'd be so hard for anyone not to stare, and unfortunately he caught you.

"Like what you see?" he smirked.

You instantly felt your cheeks heat up, lighting your face a bright red, yet you tried to regain your cool composure and released a playful scoff, "I just happened to get lost in thought is all...on your face...I-I just tend to day dream a lot randomly. That's what I was trying to say," you

Historical/ Biographical analysis is the most effective method that may be employed to examine Elia Kazan and Budd Schulberg’s play, On the Waterfront, in order to reveal what influenced the authors to create their art. The application of this method reveals several connections between reality and the play. The play’s plot follows the real-life story of the corruption on the New York Harbor, famously reported on by Malcolm Johnson. Characters in the play were also inspired by real people. The authors were also clearly influenced by the atmosphere of fear and accusation created during the McCarthy investigations and their own involvement in facing the House Un-American Activities Committee.…

But as of late, I can’t say there has been much self-pride for me to bathe in.…
